What Time is It in Texas Now?
Time Zones in Texas
Texas is the only state that spans two time zones. The Central Time zone observes most of the state, while three counties in the far west of Texas follow the Mountain Time zone. The time zone boundary follows the 104th meridian, with the exception of El Paso County, which is located entirely in the Mountain Time zone.
As a result of Texas's large size, the time difference between the easternmost and westernmost points in the state is one hour, the same as the time difference between the easternmost and westernmost points of the contiguous United States.
