Calgary Water Restrictions Stages

Calgarians asked to conserve water as dry conditions persist

Stage 1 Outdoor Water Restrictions in effect

City closely monitoring river flows and weather conditions

The City of Calgary is asking residents to conserve water as dry conditions continue to impact the city's water supply. Stage 1 Outdoor Water Restrictions are now in effect, and Calgarians are being asked to follow the following guidelines:

  • Water your lawn or garden only once per week, between 4 a.m. and 10 a.m. or 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.
  • Use a nozzle or timer to water your lawn or garden, and avoid overwatering.
  • Repair any leaks in your hose or watering system.
  • Consider watering your lawn less frequently, or letting it go dormant during the summer months.

The City is closely monitoring river flows and weather conditions, and will adjust the water restriction level as needed. Calgarians can stay up-to-date on the latest water restriction information by visiting the City's website or calling 311.

"We appreciate the cooperation of Calgarians in conserving water during this dry period," said Chris McGeachy, Water Services Manager. "By following these simple tips, we can help to ensure that we have a reliable water supply for the future."
